Community Organizations

Hampden is a small town, and much of what holds it together runs on volunteers: a wildlife sanctuary, a historical society, a park committee, and the town’s own services for older residents and readers. Every one of them takes help.

Laughing Brook Wildlife Sanctuary	A Massachusetts Audubon Society sanctuary on Main Street, built around the former home of author and naturalist Thornton W. Burgess, with trails open to the public.
Hampden Historical Society	Keeps the town’s history and artifacts, housed in Old Academy Hall.
Friends of Memorial Park	Volunteers who raise funds and lend hands to keep up Hampden’s Memorial Park.
