Goshen Boards & Commissions

What Boards & Commissions Are

Beyond the Select Board, much of Goshen’s governing happens on volunteer boards and commissions. They approve new development, hear zoning appeals, protect the town’s wetlands and open space, plan for its buildings and roads, and advise Town Meeting on spending. They are the rooms where an ordinary resident can have the most direct hand in a decision.

The meetings are public, and seats open up regularly.

  • Planning Board reviews subdivisions, site plans, and major development.
  • Zoning Board of Appeals hears variances and special permits.
  • Conservation Commission protects Goshen’s wetlands, waterways, and open space.
  • Finance Committee reviews the budget and advises Town Meeting on spending.
  • Board of Health oversees inspections, septic and well permits, and public health rules.
  • Board of Assessors sets property valuations and rules on abatements and exemptions.
  • Capital Planning Committee plans for the town’s buildings, vehicles, and major purchases.
