Vanna Howard
Vanna Howard won a special election in March 2026 to fill the First Middlesex Senate seat left open by the death of Senator Ed Kennedy, and she was sworn in that month as the first Cambodian American state senator in the country. She had represented part of Lowell in the Massachusetts House before moving to the Senate. Dracut is one of the five communities in her district.
State Representative
Colleen Garry has represented the 36th Middlesex District, made up of Dracut and Tyngsborough, in the Massachusetts House for many years. A Dracut resident and attorney, she is one of the longest-serving members of the House delegation from the Merrimack Valley.

All of Dracut sits in the 3rd Congressional District, represented by U.S. Representative Lori Trahan, a Democrat who has held the seat since 2019. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator. Both were first elected to the Senate in 2013.
