Michael Henault
About 1,530 students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. Michael Henault leads the Central Berkshire Regional School District, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running the schools day to day. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which carries out an annual evaluation; in June 2026 the committee rated Henault’s first year exemplary. Because the district is regional, that committee answers to seven towns at once rather than to Becket alone, so a Becket parent shares the Superintendent with neighbors in Dalton, Hinsdale and the smaller hill towns.

The School Committee
The Central Berkshire Regional School Committee has about fifteen members serving staggered three-year terms, elected town by town across the seven communities the district serves: Becket, Cummington, Dalton, Hinsdale, Peru, Washington and Windsor. Becket elects two of those seats. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It meets at the district office in Dalton, and the meetings are public, which means a Becket student who shows up can speak. The list below shows the committee’s officers and Becket’s own two representatives.
