Municipal Council
About the Council
The Attleboro Municipal Council is the city’s legislative body. It has 11 members — five elected at-large by the whole city and six elected from individual wards — each serving a two-year term. The Council adopts city ordinances, approves the mayor’s budget (and can amend or reduce it), confirms certain appointments, and can override a mayoral veto with a supermajority.
- Adopts the budget and ordinances that govern spending, zoning, and city policy.
- Holds public hearings on the budget, ordinances, and major proposals.
- Each councilor chairs one committee and serves on two others, where much of the detailed work happens.
