Community Organizations
Sunderland is served by local organizations that preserve its history, support its library, and cover its news. These are some of the longest-running, and several of them take volunteers.

| Swampfield Historical Society | An all-volunteer society whose museum in the historic former Graves Memorial Library on North Main Street preserves more than 400 years of Sunderland history. Swampfield was the town’s original name. It takes volunteers. |
| Friends of the Sunderland Public Library | A volunteer group that funds books and materials and sponsors library programs, from the Summer Reading Program to the Chess Club and Teen Advisory Board, through book, bake, and plant sales. |
| The Recorder | Franklin County’s daily newspaper, based in Greenfield, covering Sunderland town government, schools, and events. It reported the May 2026 school override. |
| Daily Hampshire Gazette | A regional daily covering the Pioneer Valley to the south, including the Amherst area and the Frontier and Union 38 school districts. |
