Christopher Casavant
About 1,365 students fill the Narragansett Regional School District, and the person who answers for their schooling answers to two towns at once. Christopher Casavant has been Superintendent of the Narragansett Regional district, shared by Phillipston and Templeton, since 2016. The district runs three schools, all in Templeton: Templeton Elementary, Narragansett Middle School, and Narragansett Regional High School. Phillipston once ran its own elementary school, the Phillipston Memorial School, but after it closed the town’s youngest students now attend Templeton Elementary alongside their Templeton neighbors. The Superintendent proposes the school budget, sets academic priorities, and is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which carries out an annual evaluation.

The School Committee
The Narragansett Regional School Committee has eight voting members, and the district agreement splits them by town: five are elected by Templeton and three by Phillipston. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent. Jennifer Smith of Templeton chairs the committee and Heather Niemczura of Templeton is Vice Chair. Phillipston’s seats are held by Elizabeth Bond and Danielle Boucher-Brunelle, with one Phillipston seat currently vacant and open for a resident to fill. A student representative sits with the committee in a non-voting role.
