Who Represents Petersham

The whole town sits in a single state representative district, a single state senate district, and a single congressional district, so there is no district line to check before you write. One representative, one senator, and one member of Congress speak for every Petersham address, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Petersham included. Five names, and between them they cover everything from a town road grant to a federal tax bill.

State Senator

A state senator writes and votes on state law and the state budget, and can press a state agency on a resident’s behalf. Senator Comerford’s Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester district reaches across three counties, and all of Petersham sits inside it.

State Representative

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. Representative Saunders holds the 7th Hampden seat, and every Petersham address is inside his district.

In Washington

All of Petersham sits in the 2nd Congressional District, which reaches across central Massachusetts from Worcester west toward the hill towns. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.

Petersham is not split, so every address in town has the same delegation. Both lookups take about ten seconds and both work for any Massachusetts address:
