Michael Henault is Superintendent of Schools for the Central Berkshire Regional School District, proposing the district budget, setting academic priorities, and running a system of five schools day to day. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which carries out an annual evaluation. The School Committee
The Central Berkshire Regional School Committee has fifteen members serving staggered three-year terms, apportioned among the seven district towns and each elected by the voters of the town that holds the seat. Peru elects one seat, filled by Kimberly Wetherell; Dalton, the largest town, holds seven. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It meets in the evening on a schedule that rotates among the district schools, and the meetings are public, which means a Peru student who shows up can speak.
