Town Government
School Committee & Superintendent
The Superintendent
Timothy McCormick
About 389 students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. Timothy McCormick leads North Brookfield Public Schools, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running a two-school system day to day: North Brookfield Elementary and North Brookfield High. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected five-member School Committee, which evaluates his work. Because the district serves this one town, the line of accountability is short: the committee that supervises the Superintendent is elected entirely by North Brookfield voters, and the school budget it approves goes to the town’s own Town Meeting, where any registered voter can question a line and vote on it.

The School Committee
The North Brookfield School Committee has five members elected town-wide to staggered three-year terms. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It meets in the KIVA Room at North Brookfield High School, 10 New School Drive, and the meetings are public, which means a North Brookfield student who shows up can speak.
