Who Represents Groveland

All of Groveland sits in one state representative district, one state senate district, and one congressional district, so unlike many towns you do not have to check your street to know who speaks for you. One state representative and one state senator carry the town on Beacon Hill, one member of Congress carries it in Washington, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the whole state, Groveland included. Five names, and between them they cover everything from a local road bylaw to a federal river cleanup.

State Senator

Bruce E. Tarr has represented this corner of northern Essex County for years and serves as the Senate Minority Leader, which makes him one of the most senior figures in the chamber. All of Groveland sits inside the First Essex and Middlesex district, so there is no district line to check before you write.

State Representative

Groveland sits entirely in the 14th Essex House district, so one representative speaks for the whole town on Beacon Hill.

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. This office takes calls from Groveland residents.

In Washington

All of Groveland sits in the 6th Congressional District, which runs along the North Shore from the edge of Boston out to Cape Ann. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
