Dr. Geoffrey Bruno is the Superintendent of the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running the district’s schools day to day. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which carries out an annual evaluation. Because the district is regional, that committee answers to two towns at once: five of its seven seats are Groton’s and two are Dunstable’s, which means Dunstable votes on the schools alongside its larger neighbor.

The School Committee
The Groton-Dunstable Regional School Committee has seven members serving staggered three-year terms, five filling Groton’s seats and two filling Dunstable’s. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It meets on Wednesday evenings at the Groton-Dunstable Middle School Performing Arts Center, and the meetings are public, which means a Dunstable student who shows up can speak.

Dunstable elects two of the seven members. In 2026 the Dunstable committee seat was inadvertently left off the town ballot, so under the Regional School District Agreement the Select Board and the sitting Dunstable member appointed incumbent Chair Lacey McCabe to serve until the next annual town election.
