Who Represents Carlisle

All of Carlisle sits in one state representative district, so unlike many towns you do not have to check your street to know who speaks for you on Beacon Hill. One state representative, one state senator, and one member of Congress cover the whole town, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Carlisle included. Five names on this page, and between them they carry everything from a local road project to a federal privacy law.

State Senator

The Third Middlesex district gathers Carlisle with a cluster of suburban towns northwest of Boston, so one senator carries the housing, transportation, climate and school-funding questions the whole area shares. All of Carlisle sits inside it, which means there is no district line to check before you write. Barrett serves as an Assistant Majority Leader in the Senate.

State Representative

All of Carlisle sits in the 14th Middlesex House district, so one representative speaks for the whole town.

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. Cataldo’s office takes calls from Carlisle residents.

In Washington

All of Carlisle sits in the 3rd Congressional District, which runs across the Merrimack Valley and northwest Middlesex County. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
